Revitalized parks, transit-oriented development and walkable neighborhoods breathe new life into older neighborhoods.

Development of regional planning recommendations for four prototypical sites in the Chicago Metropolitan Region. Compact new town center, transit-oriented development and regional open space conservation were proposed as alternatives to suburban sprawl and the construction of new tollways. Areas of study included rural, suburban, town center and inner city sites. Aerial perspective development simulations as well as general recommendations for policy and regulatory actions were prepared. Charrettes and workshops involved a wide range of participants from each of the four communities. Coordinated work with local, regional and state planning authorities. Project completed in collaboration with planning author Tony Hiss.
