The major Berkshire cultural institutions, Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Clark Art Museum, Hancock Shaker Village, Chesterwood and the Norman Rockwell Museum, are all facing the potential development of nearby properties which threatens the rural landscape and character of these important cultural resources.

Dodson Associates, Ltd. working with the Berkshire Natural Resources Council and the staff, boards and neighbors of each cultural institution, developed landscape protection plans designed to preserve the views, rural character and natural setting of each site. The plans addressed the unique concerns and circumstances of each institution and made use of such landscape protection techniques as purchase and resale, limited development, income tax deductions, estate and inheritance tax planning and conservation restrictions. Dodson Associates conducted workshops to involve the cultural institutions and their neighbors in the development and implementation of the landscape preservation plans.
