Dodson Associates recently developed the visual assessment methodology, signage system and roadside landscape preservation strategy for Nevada's Scenic Byways Program, funded through the US Department of Transportation's ISTEA program. Teamed with LandUse Collaborative, Ken Kruckemeyer and TAMS Engineers, Dodson Associates worked to develop recommended highway design and management standards sensitive to scenic character and public concerns. The firm also contributed to program development and public participation. Dodson Associates authored portions of the final reports, illustrated planning and design recommendations and produced major portions of the desktop publishing layout. The recommended Scenic Byways Program has been enthusiastically received by Nevada officials, organizations and citizens and was successfully implemented in 1996.
